A comprehensive emergency preparedness program can help mitigate against these risks, and improve response to and recovery from incidents that do occur. Fortress has helped biotechnology firms, individual towns, and city/state health commissions understand and address the emergency preparedness challenges they face.

National Emerging Infectious Disease Laboratory Emergency Planning

Boston Public Health Commission

Fortress conducted a NIMSCAST assessment and report detailing current and proposed documents to be used in the development of an integrated City of Boston response plan for adverse incidents related to biological research within the city of Boston. This assessment for the Boston Public Health Commission included Plans and Standard Operating Procedures for all relevant city Departments, Commissions and Authorities.

Fortress was recently selected to provide additional services to BPHC related to the proposed National Emerging Infectious Disease Laboratory (NEIDL). As part of this work, Fortress is reviewing regulations, guidance, planning, procedures, training, and drills/exercises.

Emergency Operations Planning		Pioneer Valley Planning Commission
		The Hampden County Health Coalition, consisting of 18 towns and cities, retained Fortress to update their Emergency Management Plans, conduct NIMS/ICS training and to design and evaluate protocols and procedures through multiple drills and exercises. Additional areas that were addressed in this project included a public health response time analysis, mutual aid agreements, quarantine and investigation planning and emergency dispensing site plans.
