PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE

Mr. Paul Burke is a distinguished fire safety and emergency planning expert. He served as the District Fire Chief of the Emergency Planning and Preparedness Division in Boston from 2007 to 2016, playing a pivotal role in managing the Massachusetts and Boston Fire Prevention Codes, and executing Incident Action Plans for major events and disasters. He represented Boston Fire Department in collaborations with various agencies for safety planning for large-scale events including the Boston Marathon and 4th of July Celebration. Notably, he was instrumental in managing the department’s response to the 2013 Boston Marathon Bombing. Mr. Burke's experience includes serving on Boston’s Biosafety Committee, contributing to the Boston Urban Shield exercise in 2011, overseeing the Fire Investigation Unit, and serving as Assistant Fire Marshall from 1994 to 2003. He's recognized for his contributions to the NFPA Large Scale Special Event plan for the 2004 Democratic Convention and for developing a comprehensive school inspection guide. His multi-faceted career showcases his commitment to fire safety, emergency preparedness, and public service.
